The graph clearly shows the rate at which smokers in the EU are dying from smoking related diseases. The rates were calculated using population figures, which allows for a direct comparison between each of the EU countries.

The average firgure for the whole of Europe is around 0.48% per year, which when compared with the world rate of 0.32% (WHO) best illustrates the effects of long term smoking damage.
