The tcrc commissions and publishes materials on tobacco
control, with a special emphasis on the needs of the
medical profession in Europe. In addition, the TCRC
is involved in campaigning for effective tobacco control
policies - responses to UK and European initiatives
in tobacco control are included in this section.
Towards Smokefree Public Places -
6 November 2002
This report has been produced in conjuction with
TCRC and the BMA Board of Science and Education. The
report summarises the evidence of the health effects
of passive smoking on adults and children. It also
details the current level of protection against passive
smoke and discusses the evidence base for providing
protection. Concluding with a series of evidence based
recommendations which cover legislation, support for
cessation services, the role of education and policies
in the workplace and in public places.
